James W. Briggs, 90, of 63 North St., died yesterdayat Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Dalton on April 25, 1912, son of James W. and Gertrude Hughes Briggs, he attended Dalton and Pittsfield schools.
Mr. Briggs was employed as a power engineer in the power plant of the former Byron Weston Co. from 1934 until retiring in 1976.
He was a member of the National Association of Power Engineers.
He leaves his wife, the former Alice C. Briggs, whom he married Nov. 29, 1934; three daughters, Patricia Wright of Dalton, Dianne Tower of Lewes, Del., and Kathleen Griffin of Pittsfield; a brother, Francis Briggs of Pittsfield; a sister, Alice Geofrian of Shelbyville, Ind., six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- There will be no funeral service or calling hours for James W. Briggs. Burial will be in Main Street Cemetery in Dalton at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Dalton Ambulance Fund or the Dalton Volunteer Fire Department in care of BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
