Raymond H. Jones, 68, of 53 Third St., died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 29, 1934, son of Robert E. and Harriett Rochelo Jones, he attended Pittsfield schools. He served with the Army from 1956 to 1958 as a military policeman.
Mr. Jones was employed by the Pittsfield Highway Department for more than 30 years, retiring in 1984. He was a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, the Berkshire 5-Watters and Side Banders CB radio club, the Pittsfield Fourth of July Parade Committee and the Adult Day Health Center.
His wife, the former Barbara Bennett, whom he married Nov. 29, 1953, died December 7, 2001.
He leaves four sons, Alton Jones of Spring Valley, Calif., Chris Jones of Phoenix, Paul Jones of Pittsfield and Robert Jones of Cheshire; three daughters, Bonnie Jones, Michelle Jones and Jacqueline Stevens, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Geraldine Ulrich of Dalton, 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral service for Raymond H. Jones will be Thursday at 2 at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. James Dannals, rector, officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the Cemetery of the Maples in East Chatham, N.Y. Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners' Hospital in care of the funeral home at 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
