Paul F. Nash

Paul F. Nash, 80, of 21 Woodleigh Road died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 27, 1922, son of Roy F. Nash Sr. and Nellie S. Foster Nash, he was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

Mr. Nash was employed by GE for 44 years, retiring from the ordnance department Feb. 28, 1985.

He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church. He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs, Bay State Trappers, Springside Greenhouse Group, United Commercial Travelers, Immanuel Community Church Couples of Pittsfield and the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center, and a past president and director of the Pittsfield Sportsmen's Club.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, photography, gardening, camping, traveling and bird watching.

He leaves his wife, the former Mary E. Prew, whom he married Feb. 2, 1946.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Paul E. Nash of Lenox; a brother, Malcolm D. Nash of Kittery Point, Maine; a sister, Ruth I. Melle of Pittsfield, and a grandson. A daughter, Cheryl Ann Nugai, died Feb. 27, 1999.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Paul F. Nash, 80, died Sunday, March 2, 2003. Beloved husband of Mary E. Prew Nash. Devoted father of Paul E. Nash and his wife, Kathy. Cherished grandfather of Michael P. Nugai. Dear brother of Malcolm D. Nash and Ruth I. Melle.

Survivors include a son-in-law, Ronald J. Nugai; sisters-in-law, Mercedes Nash and Phyllis Nash; brother-in-law, Joseph Melle; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Thursday, March 6, at 8:30 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9:30 at All Soul's Church, 51 Pembroke Ave., by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 5, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cheryl A. Nugai Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cheryl A. Nugai, who died Feb. 27, 1999; a brother, Roy F. Nash Jr., and two sisters, Olive Guerin and Virginia F. Dow.
