Imelda Cornelio LaMountain of 85 Pollock Ave., a lawyer and former Pittsfield City Council president, died Saturday at home. She was 59.
Born on Sept. 13, 1943, daughter also of the late Imelda Ryan Cornelio, she was a 1961 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor of arts degree and from Suffolk University Law School in Boston in 1969.
Ms. LaMountain also served on the Criminal Justice Advisory Board for Berkshire Community College, the board of trustees of the Berkshire Athenaeum, the board of directors of Girls Incorporated, the board of trustees of the Massachusetts Supreme Court Historical Society, the mayor's Jail Site Selection Committee and the board of directors of the local cable access television station.
She leaves a son, R. Scott LaMountain of Edison, N.J.; a sister, Lucille Shepard of Potomac, Md.; her stepmother, Bernice Cornelio of Pittsfield, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Imelda Cornelio LaMountain, 59, died Saturday, March 1, 2003. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 5, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be tomorrow, March 4, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
Family and friends will gather at the Mount Carmel Parish Center following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. Beloved mother of R. Scott LaMountain and loving mother-in-law of his wife, Kimberley. Loving grandmother of Emily C., Connor S. and Cameron J. LaMountain. Dear sister of Lucille Shepard and loving sister-in-law of her husband, Ronald. Additional survivors include two nephews, Ryan M. and Andrew H. Shepard, and her stepmother, Bernice Cornelio.
