Dorothea H. Winter, 88, of 149 Harryel St. died at Berkshire Medical Center yesterday.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 17, 1915, daughter of H. Edward and Julia Kirchner Hayn, she was a 1932 graduate of Pittsfield High School, and in 1937 graduated from Russell Sage College with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
She worked as a bookkeeper at the former Agricultural National Bank from 1937 to 1946, when she went to work, also as a bookkeeper, for Brookshire Ford, which become Seyffer Ford. She retired in 1974.
She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church and of the church's Miriam Circle. She also volunteered with the Town Players, where she helped with stage properties.
She was married on Oct. 18, 1941, to Frederick A. Walters, who died in Japan in 1946. On March 9, 1957, she married Charles A. Winter, who died Oct. 6, 1979.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothea H. Winter will be on Monday at 2 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Dr. Peter Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the funeral home at 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201. Winter leaves one nephew and several cousins.
