Joseph E. Anischik

Joseph E. Anischik, 72, of Chicopee, died Friday at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. He was the father of Debra A. Anischik of Pittsfield.

Born in Chicopee on April 13, 1930, son of Michael and Sophie Jezouit Anischik, he attended Chicopee schools.

He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. Anischik was a laboratory analyst at Monsanto Chemical Co. in Springfield for 40 years, retiring in 1992.

He was a communicant of the Basilica of St. Stanislaus, Bishop and Martyr, in Chicopee and was an avid baseball fan.

His wife, the former Lorraine C. Gwozdz, died in 1986.

Besides his daughter, he leaves another daughter, Cathleen A. Reid of Holliston; a son, Thomas J. Anischik of Tolland, Conn.; a brother, Richard Anischik of Chicopee; a sister, Marion Gable of Sterling, Va., and three grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- He also leaves his son-in-law, Christopher Reid; daughter-in-law, Kathryn Plifka Anischik; three grandchildren, Sarah K. Anischik of Tolland, Conn., and Alexandra L. Reid and Michael C. Reid, both of Holliston, and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 from CIERPIAL MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 69 East St., Chicopee Falls, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in the Basilica of St. Stanislaus at 10. The burial will be in St. Stanislaus' Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Chatham Center, Suite 450, 29 Crafts St., Newton, MA 02160-5829, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
