Alice H. VanDeusen

Alice H. VanDeusen, 79, formerly of Pomeroy Manor, died at Berkshire Medical Center on Thursday.

Born in North Adams on Sept. 14, 1923, daughter of Floyd L. and Elizabeth H. McAdoo Stiles, she attended Dalton schools and graduated from the former Dalton High School in 1941. She also attended the former Bishop Memorial School of Nursing.

She worked as a licensed practical nurse at the former Pittsfield General Hospital, Berkshire Medical Center, Valley View Nursing Home and Berkshire Nursing Home, retiring in 1985.

She was a member of Dalton United Methodist Church. George L. VanDeusen, whom she married on June 29, 1944, died April 4, 1997.

She leaves four sons, George B. VanDeusen of Hudson, N.Y., John W. VanDeusen of Danvers, Richard H. VanDeusen of Pittsfield and Robert W. VanDeusen of Windsor; two daughters, Marion A. Hunt of Pittsfield and Elizabeth A. Wimpenney of Cheshire; two brothers, Floyd Stiles of Marlboro and William Stiles of Castro Valley, Calif.; two sisters, Ethel Kampf of Ellensburg, Wash., and Judith Lippford of Citrus Heights, Calif., and 12 grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Alice H. VanDeusen will be held on Tuesday at 10 at the BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton, with the Rev. Philip Kim, pastor of the Dalton United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be on Monday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Dalton Ambulance Fund, in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
