Marion E. Cooney

Marion E. Cooney, 82, formerly of 515 Tyler St. died Thursday afternoon at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 1, 1921, daughter of Edward A. and Mary M. Reynolds Meehan, she attended local schools and was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School. Continuing her education, she graduated in 1942 as a registered nurse from the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing.
Mrs. Cooney began her nursing career in private duty and later became employed by Hillcrest Hospital. She retired from its pediatric department in 1976 after 34 years of nursing.
She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church and a member of its Rosary Sodality. She was a member of the St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She enjoyed traveling and shopping.
She married John R. Cooney on Aug. 20, 1949. He died Nov. 5, 2002.
She leaves two daughters, Ellen M. Cooney of Pittsfield and Lisa A. Enos of Upton; two sons, John E. Cooney of Eldersburg, Md., and David J. Cooney of Humble, Texas, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Marion E. Meehan Cooney, age 82, died Feb. 13, 2003. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, John, Matthew, Meaghan and Edward Cooney, and Lindsay Enos. Her brother, Edward F. Meehan, died Jan. 19, 2000. Calling hours will be held Monday from 3 to 6 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 8:15 at the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Joseph's Church, with the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Make A Wish in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
