Marie T. Staro, 89, who formerly resided at 84 Tor Court, died Thursday at Craneville Place of Dalton, 265 Main St., where she had resided since Dec. 9, 1998.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., on May 1, 1913, daughter of Luigi and Anna Gabriele Piattelli, she moved with her family to Pennsylvania, where she graduated from Wilsonboro High School in Easton, Pa.
She was employed as an office manager at Frank M. Staro Photo Studio on North Street for many years and retired in 1982.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, and also the Sons of Italy Itam Lodge No. 564 of Pittsfield.
Her husband, Pittsfield photographer Frank M. Staro, whom she married on Sept. 1, 1935, at Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx, died on Feb. 4, 1999.
She leaves one son, Dr. Frank L. Staro of East Islip, N.Y., and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Marie T. Piattelli Staro, 89, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003. Beloved aunt of Ann Marie Trieste, Marion Verdirame, Irma Magee and Charles M. Staro. Funeral services will take place Monday, Feb. 10, at 8 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor.
Entombment will follow Monday afternoon at Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, Feb. 9, from 4 to 7. Sons of Italy Itam Lodge No. 564 will meet at the funeral home at 6 for a Ritual Service and the Mount Carmel Church Ladies Guild will meet at 6:30 for a Vigil Service. She was predeceased by a brother, Dominic Piattelli and a sister, Rita Franco.
