Vincent Eugene Blake, 88, formerly of Springside Avenue, died Monday morning at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided for two years.
Born in Lenox on July 9, 1914, son of George and Bessie Clark Blake, he attended a one-room schoolhouse and graduated from Lenox High School. He moved to Pittsfield 60 years ago.
Mr. Blake was employed as an assembler at GE for 45 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of the GE Pensioners' and Quarter Century clubs and had been a Mason for more than 50 years.
His wife, the former Margaret Hover, died April 25, 1981. He leaves a daughter, Jean A. Barnicle of East Bridgewater; a brother, William Blake of Windsor, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Vincent Eugene Blake, who died Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, is also survived by his son-in-law, Edward Barnicle, his grandson, Christopher Barnicle, his granddaughter, Jennifer Babcock, and his sister-in-law, Doris Blake. The funeral will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 6, at 1 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and Related Disorders in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
