Henry R. Butler

Henry R. Butler, 91, of 176 Columbus Ave., Berkshiretown, died at the Berkshire Medical Center yesterday shortly after being admitted. He was a resident of 914 E. New Lenox Road during summers and Arcadia, Fla., during winters, for the past 40 years.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 16, 1911, son of Carl E. Butler Sr. and Joanna Rhinehart Butler, he was a 1929 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was employed at General Electric for one year before becoming a farmer. In 1953 he started his own contracting business and built numerous homes in Richmond and Pittsfield. He retired in 1980.
He attended Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church and was a member of the AARP
He leaves his wife, the former Ruth L. Benz, whom he married Sept. 2, 1934.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Henry R. Butler will be held on Tuesday morning at 11 in the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., with the Rev. Dr. Peter D. Boehringer officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Visiting Nurse Association of the Berkshires, in care of the funeral home. Among survivors are nieces and nephews Leona Butler, Wellington Butler, Carl Butler, Diane Butler, Virginia Dillon, Robert Dillon, Shirley Benz, Charles Benz, Shirley Grunow and Bruce Grunow, and several grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
