Herbert T. "Bus" Sagendorph

Herbert T. "Bus" Sagendorph, 82, formerly of Housatonic Street, died Wednesday morning at Springside of Pittsfield, where he had resided since 1999.
Born in Lenox on Nov. 24, 1920, son of Herbert T. and Julia Cripps Sagendorph, he moved to Pittsfield as a child and attended city schools.
He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Mr. Sagendorph was employed for 40 years at GE in Pittsfield, much of that time in the metallurgy department, and held two patents for furnaces he developed to test steel. He retired in 1982.
He was a communicant of St. Ann's Church. He enjoyed playing golf, ice fishing and caring for his yard at home.
His wife, the former Ellen Soule, whom he married in September 1940, died April 28, 1997.
He leaves a son, H. Thomas Sagendorph of Lee; three brothers, Edward Sagendorph of Pittsfield, Al Sagendorph of South Bend, Ind., and Jospeh Sagendorph of Albany, Ga.; two sisters, Joan Frio of Pittsfield and Margaret Reynolds of Richmond; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Herbert T. Sagendorph is also survived by his loving grandchildren, Tommy Sagendorph of Lenox and Stacy Tart of Lee, his four beloved great-grandchildren, and his daughter-in-law, Peggy Sagendorph.
The funeral will be Friday at 9:15 from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Ann's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery in Lee.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tonight, Jan. 23, from 6 to 8. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations in his memory to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 120 Main St., Lenox, MA 01240.
