Marie Lola Florentine

Marie Lola Florentine, 75, formerly of 49 Yorkshire Ave., died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born on Staten Island, N.Y., on March 9, 1927, daughter of George and Mae Shannon Powell, she attended schools there and earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Wagner College. She also pursued graduate studies in chemistry at the University of Delaware in Dover.
She resided in Stockbridge for three years before moving to Pittsfield in 1955 and to Brewster in 1980, returning to Pittsfield in 1988.
A homemaker, Mrs. Florentine volunteered at a nature preserve and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine while in Brewster.
While in Pittsfield, she was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She enjoyed painting, woodworking and stone sculpting. She was an avid fisherman.
Her husband, Frank Florentine, whom she married in June 1951, died in 1988.
She leaves two sons, George P. Florentine of Louisville, Colo., and Frank R. Florentine of Neuilly sur Seine, France; a sister, Lucille Clark of Staten Island, and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Marie Florentine will be Saturday, Jan. 25, at 8:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
