Catherine S. "Kay" Hoffman, 85, of 176 Windsor Ave. died Thursday morning at Berkshire Medical Center. Death followed a brief illness.
Born in Pittsfield on July 17, 1917, daughter of Louis F. and Mary Sanford Hoffman, she attended local schools and was a 1935 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. She graduated from the former Berkshire Business College.
Miss Hoffman was employed for more than 40 years as a bookkeeper with the former J.F. Kahl Jewelers on North Street, retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church.
She leaves three sisters, Mary V. Hoffman, Ann H. Ryan and Claire Volin, all of Pittsfield.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Catherine S. "Kay" Hoffman, 85, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003. She is also survived by Joseph W. Ryan Jr. and Mary R. Hanson, children of her sister Ann; Marlou Senecal, Peter and Paul Hoffman, children of her late brother Louis; Ann M. Dockstader, Mary Patricia Dion and Catherine M. Grady, daughters of her late sister, Leonora; William J. Volin and Christine V. Reed, children of her sister Claire; J. Michael Hoffman and Joanne H. Tierney, children of her late brother Joseph; and Laurie M. Delaney, Mary E. Wilkens, Susan M. Watt, Martha M. and J. Christian Hoffman, children of her late brother James.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Monday at 8:15 from the funeral home followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church celebrated by Rev. Michael Shershanovich, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations in her memory may be made to St. Joseph's High School in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
