Bernard O. Plouffe

Bernard O. Plouffe, 86, of 90 McIntosh Drive died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on April 30, 1916, son of Frank and Emma Langer Plouffe, he was a 1936 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served from February 1945 until January 1946. He was employed as an operational planner at GE in the power transformer division for 43 1/2 years, retiring in 1977.
Mr. Plouffe was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the General Electric Athletic Association. He was a former member of the former Hibbard Elementary School PTA and the former Lakewood Civic Association. He also served as first chief of the former civil defense auxiliary firemen. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting.
He and his wife, the former Norma A. Chiorgno, would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary Feb. 19.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Frederick A. Plouffe of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Another son, Allan L. Plouffe, died March 15, 1993.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Bernard O. Plouffe will be conducted Tuesday at noon at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield by the Rev. Dr. Peter Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 11 to noon at the funeral home.
