George W. Adams Jr., 74, of 6 Adelaide Ave., died Wednesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 29, 1928, son of George W. and Ethel Hathaway Adams, he was a 1946 graduate of the former Dalton High School.
He also graduated from the former Berkshire Business College. He was in the Navy from 1946 to 1948.
He was employed as a cost accountant at GE for 10 years. He also worked for the Massa-chusetts Division of Employment Security as a senior interviewer for 10 years. He was also Dalton's veterans agent for many years.
Mr. Adams was a member of the Dalton American Legion. He enjoyed golfing and gardening. He and his wife belonged to the Dalton So-Ed ballroom dancing.
He leaves his wife, the former Elizabeth Farrell, whom he married Aug. 11, 1951; a son, George W. Adams III of Dalton; four daughters, Deborah DiNicola, Lisa Adams and Amy Adams MacHaffie, all of Pittsfield, and Mary Jo Zeising of Nashua, N.H., and 10 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Shaun T. Adams, who died in 1957.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- George will be lovingly missed by his grandchildren, Sarah, Laura, George, Nathan, Shane, Mallory, Timmer, Elizabeth, J.R. and Catherine. Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan. 4, at 8:45 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Charles' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.
Burial will be held in the Main Street Cemetery in Dalton at a later date. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Charles' Church or Boys' Town in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St.
