Dorothy Mae Calderella, 84, of 16 Walnut St. died yesterday at Side By Side, where she had resided since February 2001.
Born in Hartford, Conn., May 17, 1918, daughter of Arthur J. and Effie Mae Bullett Chevrette, she was educated in Connecticut and in Pittsfield schools. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A homemaker, she worked at General Electric during World War II and sold war stamps.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and bowling.
She leaves her husband, Michael Calderella, whom she married May 30, 1941; two sons, Michael A. Calderella of Redondo Beach, Calif., and Peter J. Calderella of Pittsfield; two daughters, Donna M. Roraback of Jacksonville, Fla., and Karen M. Sanderson of Coventry, Conn.; a brother, Arthur J. Chevrette of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Dorothy Mae Calderella, who died Jan. 2, 2003, was predeceased by a brother, Charles H. Chevrette, and a granddaughter, Susan Calderella.
She leaves nine grandchildren, Michael C. Calderella, Michele Calderella, Nathan Calderella, Desiree Dorothy Calderella, Laurel Hussan, Jack Hassan, Brian Sanderson, Gregory Sanderson and Kevin Sanderson; four great-grandchildren, Shannon Calderella, Shawn Calderella, Kyle Calderella and Connor Hassan.
Funeral services for Mrs. Calderella will be held Monday, Jan. 6, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Calderella may be made to St. Mark's Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
