Patrick Joseph "Rick" McCaherty, 52, of 29 Cleveland St. died Sunday at home after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 2, 1950, son of Patrick A. and Louise R. Fournier McCaherty, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School. He received his bachelor's degree in economics from Fairfield University in Connecticut.
Mr. McCaherty was employed by GE Plastics until retiring in January. An amateur photographer, he leaves volumes of photographs of people and places throughout the Berkshires. He also enjoyed music
He was married to Beverly Jean Tanner.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sisters, Kathleen F. Casella of Pittsfield and Eileen Hudson of Battle Creek, Mich.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Patrick J. "Rick" McCaherty, 52, of Pittsfield died Dec. 15. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Larry Casella; his nieces, Kris Mathieu, Michelle Costa and Arlene Hulsebos; and his nephews, Lawrence P. Casella, and Greg, Sean and Denny Hulsebos.
A private funeral will be held, with burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Guthrie Center, 4 Van Deusenville Road, Great Barrington, MA 01230. DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements. His love of music drew him to appreciate the inspired efforts of the Guthrie Center, which brings joy to audiences of diverse interests and backgrounds.
