Margaret E. DiMaleo, 89, formerly of 44B Highview Drive, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since 2001.
Born in Pittsfield on July 28, 1913, daughter of George and Margaret E. Manning Kirby, she was a 1931 graduate of St. Joseph's High School.
She was last employed by the former England Brothers Department Store for 14 years, retiring in 1973. Previously, she had worked at GE for 10 years.
Mrs. DiMaleo was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Her husband, Lorenzo J. "Ray" DiMaleo, whom she married May 28, 1948, died Jan. 5, 1993. She leaves nephews and nieces, including her caregiver, Carol Lanski of Adams.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Margaret E. Kirby DiMaleo, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002. Cherished aunt of Carol Lanski of Adams, Donna LeSage of Adams, Cheryl DiMaleo of Cheshire, Robert Kirby of North Adams and Raymond DiNicola of Pittsfield; also survived by greatnieces and -nephews.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. John H. Ford, CSS. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, Nov. 19, from 4 to 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the recreation department of Hillcrest Commons in care of the funeral home. She was predeceased by a brother, George E. Kirby, in 1954.
