Rachel Helen Jasanis, 80, of 1952 East St. died yesterday morning at Springside Nursing Care Facility.
Born in Pittsfield on Oct. 11, 1922, daughter of Pasquale and Mary Borelli Maiorano, she was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Jasanis was employed as acting manager of Pittsfield Supply, retiring in 1984 after several years' service. Prior to that, she was a saleswoman at the former England Brothers Department Store and account manager for the former F.W. Webb.
She was a volunteer at the American Red Cross. She also enjoyed collecting stuffed, carved and ceramic elephants, and cooking, reading and gardening.
Her husband, Leon E. Jasanis, whom she married Sept. 5, 1942, died Nov. 18, 1976. She leaves a son, Peter E. Ja-sanis of Apopka, Fla.; a daughter, Patricia M. Spaeth of Santa Rosa, Calif.; two sisters, Connie Monticone of North Kingston, N.H., and Alma McDonough of Pittsfield; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Rachel H. Jasanis, 80, died Oct. 28, 2002. She is also survived by her best friend and companion, Robert Hansen. Calling hours will be Thursday from 9 to 10:30 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Canine Companions for Independents or to the United Methodist Children's Home in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
