Richard W. Langlois, 68, of 50 Highland Ave. died yesterday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on July 25, 1934, son of Wilfred E. and Mary Ryder Langlois, he attended local schools. He served in the Marine Corps.
He was employed as a bus driver for the Berkshire Regional Transit Authority for 17 years. He had also worked as a foreman at Unistress and as a painter for several contractors.
He retired in 1994. He had never taken a sick day or was late while working at BRTA. A communicant of St. Charles' Church, Mr. Langlois was past president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a member of the Pittsfield American Legion Persip Post. He was an avid candlepin bowler and a dedicated Red Sox fan.
He married the former Marilyn E. Drake on Aug. 5, 1978, and they renewed their vows in St. Charles' Church in 1999. Besides his wife, he leaves 14 children and stepchildren, including 10 daughters, Lynn Larious of Sacramento, Calif., Paula St. Pierre and Kim Lackney, both of Lusby, Md., Joy Bettes of Pensicola, Fla., Christine Langlois, Virginia Langlois, Tonya Loveday, Leah Plouffe and Nancy Zuber, all of Pittsfield, and Helen Perugini of Melbourne, Fla.; four sons, Richard Langlois Jr., Ted McNeil, Paul Plouffe and Herbert Plouffe, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Sally Mayhew of State College, Pa.; 37 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by another daughter, Diane Langlois.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Richard W. Langlois, age 68, died Sept. 3, 2002. He was predeceased by his brother, Bishop Leo Rondeau, and a sister, Patricia Driscoll. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 8 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
Funeral services will be Friday at 9:15 from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church with the Rev. Peter Gregory, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the Friends of Renal Dialysis in care of the funeral home.
