Charles V. Parise

Charles V. Parise, 76, of 20 Stearns Ave. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center. Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 9, 1925, son of Joseph and Maria Puyia Parise, he attended local schools.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European theater and was awarded four battle stars. He helped construct the longest bridge over the Rhine River. He joined the Air Force in 1950, and was sent to England. He joined the Royal Air Force and was discharged in 1953.
He was employed as a delivery person and later became a foreman for the Pittsfield News Co., retiring in 1990 after 47 years of service. Mr. Parise was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church. He was a member of the VFW Pittsfield Post 448 for 36 years, the Pittsfield Senior Center and the Italian-American Club.
He leaves his wife, the former Augustine LoCascio, whom he married Sept. 9, 1948, at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in New Lebanon, N.Y.; two sons, Charles J. Parise and Joseph C. Parise, both of Pittsfield; four daughters, Sandra Beggs, Donna Phair, Linda Sawicki and Tina Rivelli, all of Pittsfield; a sister, Josephine DiPietro of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Charles V. Parise, 76, died in Pittsfield on Tuesday, Aug. 27. Beloved grandfather of 10 grandchildren and proud great-grandpa to four. He also leaves two daughters-in-law, Jane Parise and Donna Janssen; and four sons-in-law, Bruce Beggs, Jack Phair, Michael Sawicki and Fred Rivelli.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 30, at 9:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, CSS, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires or to the Jimmy Fund in care of Dwyer Funeral Home.
