Ralph R. Kirby

Ralph R. Kirby, 76, of 322 Carrington St., Henderson, Nev., formerly of 43 Richard Drive, Pittsfield, died Friday at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas of an apparent heart attack.
Born in North Adams on Jan. 20, 1926, son of Ralph F. and Laura M. Saulnier Kirby, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and was a 1943 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He joined the Navy in 1943 and spent time at Guam and Oahu during World War II.
He was discharged in 1946. He was employed by the New England Telephone Co. for 35 years. He retired in 1981. He then worked for Centel in Las Vegas and retired in 1988.
His wife, the former Nancy E. Ewing, whom he married Jan. 18, 1947, in St. Mary's Church, died July 15, 2000. He leaves six daughters, Laura Scace of Sun Valley, Nev., Christine Monterosso of Henderson, Melissa Love of Las Vegas, Amy Labbe of Schenectady, N.Y., Anne Thomas of Wethersfield, Conn., and Libby Heubner of Coon Rapids, Minn.; a son, Robert Kirby of Henderson, with whom he made his home; seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
