Harold D. Douville

Harold D. Douville, 73, of 14 Stockbridge Ave. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. He was a former member of the Dalton Finance Committee and served as treasurer of the Dalton Council on Aging.
Born in Northbridge on March 8, 1929, son of Thomas and Orilla Beauregard Douville, he was a 1948 graduate of Northbridge High School. He received a bachelor of science degree from American International College in 1956 and a master's degree in education from Westfield State College in 1964. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he served from 1951 to 1955.
Mr. Douville was employed by the Central Berkshire Regional School District as a business education teacher at Wahconah Regional High School for 25 years, retiring in 1989. From 1961 to 1963, he taught at Chester High School and, from 1963 to 1964, at West Springfield High School. He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church and served as a former eucharistic minister and lector for many years.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Dalton and served on the Nessacus Middle School Building Committee. He and his wife, the former Judith Cwalinski, were married Nov. 23, 1963, at St. Stanislaus' Church in Adams. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Christopher B. Douville of Flanders, N.J.; a brother, Edward Douville of Milford; a sister, Gertrude Douville of Northbridge, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Harold D. Douville, who died Monday, Aug. 26, also leaves his daughter-in-law, Dixie Douville of Flanders, N.J. He was predeceased by two brothers, Raymond Douville and Woodrow Douville, and a sister, Irene Douville. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 29, at 9:15 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Agnes' Church by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor.
Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 5 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dalton Ambulance and Rescue Association or to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton.
