Helen Mangiardi

Helen Marie Mangiardi, 78, of 29 Lakewood Drive died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center, where she had been admitted Aug. 2.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 4, 1923, daughter of Joseph and Concetta Talarico Canino, she attended local schools.
She was first employed by the former Elmvale Worsted Mill and, most recently, by Crane & Co. in Dalton until her retirement in 1986.
She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.
She leaves her husband, Frank B. Mangiardi, whom she married May 19, 1942; a daughter, Joyce E. Coppola of Pittsfield; three sons, Francis N. "Butch" Mangiardi and Nicholas F. Mangiardi, both of Pittsfield, and Joseph J. Mangiardi of Schodack, N.Y.; a sister, Josephine Rocca of Pittsfield; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Two brothers and seven sisters are deceased.
Funeral Saturday at 8 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield. Funeral Mass at 8:45 a.m. at All Souls' Church, with the Rev. Geoffrey Deeker, pastor of Mount Carmel Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Pittsfield. Calling hours for family only will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. Donations to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in care of the funeral home.
