Bertha Kreger

Bertha Kreger, 94, formerly of 214 Park Ave. died yesterday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided since January 1996.
Born in Poland on Feb. 1, 1908, daughter of Harry and Yetta Chirkova Martin, she emigrated to the United States at age 3 with her family. She graduated from Julia Richmond High School in Manhattan, N.Y.
She and her husband owned and operated Kregers, a retail men's store, in the Enwood section of Manhattan for 40 years. She retired in 1970 and moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. In 1992, she moved to Dalton.
Her husband, Samuel Kreger, whom she married in 1929, died in 1992.
She leaves a son, Sanford Kreger of Dalton; a sister, Rose Drucka of Long Island; and two grandchildren. Another son, Gerald Kreger, died in 1988.
No services are scheduled at this time. If friends desire, donations are suggested to a charity of their choice in her memory. The BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226, is in charge of arrangements.
