Charles Bradford

Charles Edward Bradford, 79, of Beverly, formerly of Pittsfield, died Aug. 6 at Ledgewood Rehabilitation in Beverly after a long bout with Alzheimer's disease.
Born Oct. 20, 1922, in Tulsa, Okla., son of Denzil and Ruth Fulbright Bradford, he grew up in Pampa, Texas, and lived most of his adult life in Massachusetts. He was valedictorian of his high school class in Pampa.
An Army Air Force veteran of World War II, he flew transport planes in Europe during World War II.
Mr. Bradford earned a degree in electrical engineering at Texas Tech on the GI bill and went on to a 35-year career at GE in Pittsfield. He moved to Pittsfield in 1957 and his family lived in the first all-electric house in the nation, on Saratoga Drive.He moved to Ormond Beach, Fla., in 1990, and to Beverly in 1996 following the death of his wife.
His wife, the former Cecilia T. Ruo, died in 1996. They had been married 44 years.
He leaves two sons, Robert Bradford of Mansfield and Rex Bradford of Ipswich; a daughter, Carol Dayton of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Rex Bradford of Durant, Okla.; two sisters, Dorothy Zachry of Pampa and Rosalie Bossay of Dallas; four grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
