Sanford Hartman

Sanford H. Hartman, 94, of 235 Walker St., Kimball Farms Retirement Community, died Monday at Kimball Farms Nursing Care Center.
Born in Cleveland on May 23, 1908, son of Jacob and Malvina Lovinger Hartman, he attended local schools. He also attended Ohio State University.
Mr. Hartman was a World War II Army veteran and served in the 69th Infantry Division in the European-Middle Eastern campaign. He was founder and president of the Shafford Co., importers of china and giftware, for many years, retiring in 1992.
His wife, the former Henrietta Lauar, whom he married July 25, 1942, died in 1978.
He leaves a son, James Hartman of Riverdale, N.Y.; a daughter, Dana Freyer of Scarsdale, N.Y.; five grandchildren, and his companion, Helen Finkel of Lenox.
A memorial service will be Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Congregation Emanuel of Westchester, 2125 Westchester Ave. East, Rye, N.Y. A service will be conducted locally at Kimball Farms on Sunday, Aug. 18, at 2 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, 369 South St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
