Rosa P. Maurer, 84, of 59 Circular Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 17, 1918, daughter of Antonio and Virginia Curcio Parisi, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Maurer was employed as a cook at the former Nel's Restaurant from 1973 to 1999, where she was known by her customers as "Aunt Rose." She retired at the age of 81. Previously she had been employed by Stratton Coat Factory for several years.
She was a longtime communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed cooking and sewing.
She leaves a daughter, Virginia Choiniere of Pittsfield; a brother, Anthony R. Parise of Pittsfield; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by sisters Nellie Brindle, Serina Zaccari, Theresa Parisi and Mary Parisi.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow, Aug. 14, at 11 at Mount Carmel Church by the Rev. John H. Ford, CSS. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., will be tomorrow from 8:45 to 10:45. The omission of flowers is requested and memorial donations are suggested for Mount Carmel Church or the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
