Cortland Heath Jr.

Cortland Floyde Heath Jr., 60, of 17 Middleton Road, New Durham, N.H., died Sunday at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H., of heart disease.

Born May 14, 1942, in Pittsfield, son of the late Cortland F. and Anna Yvonne Kickery Heath, he lived in Lee and Tyringham and attended schools in Lee. He also lived in Rochester and moved to New Durham in 1989.

Mr. Heath served in the Marine Corps and the Army Reserves, serving for more than 14 years before retiring with heart problems. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 and the National Rifle Association.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Farmington Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, reading, listening to country music and watching TV westerns.

He leaves his wife of 36 years, the former Gladys Ethel Jennings, whom he married Nov. 13, 1965; three daughters, Roxanne Heath of Rochester, Heather Heath of New Durham and Colleen Heath of Chester; a brother, Bruce W. Heath of Tyringham; two sisters, Brenda S. Ward of Hillsdale, N.Y., and Cheryl N. Kickery of Lenox Dale; his grandmother, Yvonne Haywood of Great Barrington, and two granddaughters. He was predeceased by two brothers, Gary W. Heath and Phillip Heath, and a grandson, Christopher Michael Denbow.

Arrangements will be made by the Cremation Society of New Hampshire. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be at the John C. Shirley Memorial Cemetery at a future time with private graveside services for the family. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the New Durham Ambulance and Fire & Rescue or the VNA /Hospice of Rochester, N.H.
