Carmina Polchlopek

Carmina N. Polchlopek, 78, of 20 Riverview West died yesterday at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility, where she was admitted in February.

Born in Pittsfield on April 25, 1924, daughter of Ernesto and Anunziata Abatecola Venturini, she attended local schools.

She was last employed by the Designer Workshop for four years. Previously, she had worked for the former Stratton Coat Factory in Pittsfield for several years and then the Berkshire Athenaeum. She retired in 1985.

Mrs. Polchlopek was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. She enjoyed bingo, bowling, pitch, crafts, crocheting and knitting. She also constructed doll houses.

Her husband, Emil Polchlopek, whom she married July 26, 1947, at Mount Carmel Church, died Sept. 7, 1974.

She leaves two sons, Michael J. Polchlopek of Woodstock, Ga., and Mark S. Polchlopek of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two sisters, Mary E. Palano and Rose M. Marchetti, both of Pittsfield; three brothers, Vincent J. Venturini, Joseph C. Venturini and Anthony Venturini, all of Pittsfield, and four grandchildren.

Services will take place Friday, Aug. 2, at 9 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, Aug. 1, from 4 to 7 .
