Louis W. Robesch

Louis W. Robesch, 79, of 963 North Parker Terrace, Olathe, Kan., formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday at home.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 3, 1922, son of Louis A. and Catherine Cavanogh Robesch, he graduated from St. Michael's High School in Brooklyn.
He was a World War II Army veteran and served in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
After high school, he moved to Pittsfield and was employed by GE in the power transformer department as a test man, retiring in 1984 after 37 years of service.
He was a communicant of St. Paul's Church in Kansas and a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs. He also was a member of the General Electric Athletic Association and the Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club. While in Pittsfield, he was a member of the Pittsfield Veterans Foreign Wars Post 448.
His first wife, the former Julia A. Shea, whom he married Dec. 11, 1943, in St. Gabriel's Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., died Oct. 23, 1987.
He leaves his wife, the former Nellie Olive Sherard, whom he married on Feb. 15, 1992, in St. Paul's Church in Olathe; a son, Louis W. Robesch Jr. of Pittsfield; two daughters, Linda R. Kearns and Catherine G. Hayford, both of Pittsfield; two stepdaughters, Sue Waters of Overland, Kan., and Jennifer Swaney of Kansas City, Mo.; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 25, at 8:15 a.m. from DWYER FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours will be at DWYER FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, July 24, from 4 to 7 p.m. If friends desire, donations may be made to Hospice and Home Health Services of Olathe Medical Center in care of Dwyer Funeral Home in his memory.
