Roland J. Pratt Jr., 65, of Tremont Street, Taunton, a native of Pittsfield, died Sunday at West Roxbury Veterans Hospital after a long illness.
Born on Sept. 16, 1936, son of Roland J. Pratt Sr. and Sarah E. Madison Pratt, he graduated from Pittsfield High School. He had also lived in Sharon.
An Air Force veteran, he served in Korea during the Korean War.
Mr. Pratt was employed as a canteen chief for various veterans' hospitals for 30 years, retiring in 1998.
He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post 106 in Sharon.
He leaves his wife, the former Marilyn J. Turner.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Monica Fair of North Attleboro and Michele A. Jenkins of Norton; two sons, Stephen M. Pratt of North Adams and Michael D. Pratt of Milford, N.H.; a sister, Jean DiTomasso of Pittsfield, and 10 grandchildren.
The funeral will be from O'KEEFE-WADE FUNERAL HOME, 70 Washington St., Taunton, on Thursday, July 25, at 8 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Paul's Church, Tremont Street, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral home at 9 a.m. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8. Interment will be in Rock Ridge Cemetery, Sharon. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
