William Urquhart

William J. Urquhart, 40, of 265 North St. died Wednesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield after a long illness.
Born in Adams on March 9, 1962, son of James H. and Nancy Walker Urquhart of Fort Pierce, Fla., he was a 1980 graduate of Hoosac Valley High School. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Miami in 1984, with a major in English.
After college, Mr. Urquhart was employed by General Cable Corp. He then was employed by Patten Realty Corp. of Stamford, Vt., and relocated when the company established a corporate entity in Boca Raton, Fla. He remained there when Patten merged with Blue Green Corp., and retired in October 2000 because of illness. He and his wife, the former Carol J. Wilson, moved to Dalton in April.
He was a golfer and a fan of the University of Miami sports teams. He was a past member of the Busch Pocket Pool League of North Berkshire, and was on the team it sent to a national tournament in St. Louis. He also was a member of the Polish National Alliance in Adams.
Besides his parents, he leaves his wife, whom he married May 26, 1990, in United Methodist Church of Dalton, and a sister, Susan A. Martel of Adams.
A funeral service will be offered Monday, July 22, at 1 at MCBRIDE FUNERAL HOME, Adams. The Rev. Donald Gray, pastor of First Baptist Church in Adams, will officiate. An inurnment service will follow in the family plot in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams. Calling hours will be Monday from noon until the service at 1. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his memory to the American Cancer Fund or the Dalton Ambulance Fund through the funeral home, 6 Liberty St., Adams, MA 01220, which is in charge of arrangements.
