Ida Soldato, 85

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ida "Edith" Soldato, 85, formerly of Bartlett Avenue died Tuesday morning, July 9, 2002, at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in the town of Florida on Sept. 16, 1916, daughter of Pasquale and Marie Bove Pitaniello, she attended schools in Stamford, Vt.
Mrs. Soldato was employed as a cook for 15 years at Mario's Restaurant in New Lebanon, N.Y. She retired in 1978.
She made and sold Italian cookies, and enjoyed decorating cakes. She also enjoyed rug braiding, crocheting and hand-made lace.
She leaves three sons, Adam F. Soldato and Mark D. Soldato, both of Atlanta, and Arthur J. Soldato of Pittsfield; three daughters, Carolyn Van Dusen of New Lebanon, Terry Pfeiffer of Raleigh, N.C., and Edie Lynn Soldato of Atlanta; four sisters, Jean Maselli of North Adams, Pierina "Polly" Major of Williamstown, Josephine Bishop of Albany, N.Y., and Maria Shimabukura of Honolulu; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
She was predeceased by a son, David Soldato, who died July 24, 1989, and was also predeceased by three brothers, Carmine Pitaniello, who died Jan. 1, 2000; Pasquale Pitaniello, who died April 2000, and Frank Pitaniello, who died in 1923.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Soldato will be held Friday, July 12, at 11:30 a.m. at the DERY FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Soldato may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the Dery Funeral Home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, 01201.
