Stanley J. Wheeler, 83, of 299 Pittsfield Road died Monday morning at Springside of Pittsfield.
Born in Lenox on Oct. 26, 1918, son of Frank S. and Martha Mauersberger Wheeler, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served throughout the European Theater and in the Italian campaign from 1943 to 1946.
He was employed by General Electric Co. in the mold-making department, and later retired from its design drafting department in 1979 after 38 years of service.
He was a member of the Mystic Lodge of Masons and of both the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners clubs.
His wife, the former Marjorie R. O'Boyle, whom he married July 31, 1954, died March 11, 1999.
He leaves a son, David S. Wheeler of Lenox; two sisters, Virginia Callan of Pittsfield and Elizabeth Gaherty of Dalton; three brothers, Earl H. Wheeler of New Lebanon, N.Y., Kenneth F. Wheeler of Michigan and Robert T. Wheeler of Lenox.
There will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. The DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
