Elizabeth "Libby" Barker Gardner, 75, of Walker Street died Sunday at home after a diagnosis of cancer in May.
Born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Sept. 7, 1926, daughter of Ralph and Miriam Abrams Epstein, she graduated from Stevens College in New York with degrees in philosophy and art and from Columbia University with a doctorate in clinical psychology.
Mrs. Gardner practiced for more than 45 years as a psychologist both privately and in community mental health settings.
She leaves her husband, Dr. Edward Gardner, whom she married in July 1974; a daughter, Mika Barker-Hart of Middlebury, Vt.; a son, Jeffrey Barker of Bethesda, Md., and three grandchildren.
The funeral will be Saturday at 2 at Trinity Church in Lenox with the Rev. Nancy Miller, rector, officiating. Burial will precede the service at 12:30 in Mountain View Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. A reception will follow the funeral at Trinity Church Parish Hall. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Elizabeth Freeman Center, 146 First St., Pittsfield, MA 02101. ROCHE FUNERAL HOME in Lenox is in charge of arrangements.
