Wilfred F. Amlaw

Wilfred Francis Amlaw, 76, of 84 Cheshire Road died Saturday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center, where he was admitted Friday.
Born in North Adams on May 4, 1926, son of Frank and Wilma Raymond Amlaw, he attended schools there.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served on the USS Gatling from 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1945 as a seaman first class.
Mr. Amlaw was employed by the state of Massachusetts as a heavy equipment operator for more than 40 years. He retired in 1991.
He was a member of New Life Community Fellowship Church in Pittsfield. He enjoyed bicycle riding, fishing, hunting and hiking and doing crafts.
His wife, the former Katherine V. "Kitty" Witto, whom he married in July 1949, died Feb. 15, 1998.
He leaves three daughters, Karen J. Page and Kathleen G. Matte, both of Adams, and Wendy L. Matte of North Adams; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Two great-grandchildren, Charlene Marie Scott and Sandra Lee Scott, died Oct. 27, 1984.
The funeral will be tomorrow at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, with Pastor Jeff Black of New Life Community Fellowship Church officiating. Burial will be in Clarksburg Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 5 to 8. Donations may be made to the VNA & Hospice of North Berkshire in care of the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams.
