Warren Ashley Vincent, 79, of 83 East St. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 13, 1922, son of J. Alexander and Emma Louise Ashley Vincent, he was a 1940 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 1941 graduate of Riverside Military Academy.
He served in the Air Force during World War II.
Mr. Vincent was employed as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Pittsfield for 37 years, retiring in 1986. From 1969 until 1973, he was co-owner of Dunkin' Donuts and, for 12 years, he worked part time at Patrick's Pharmacy, retiring from there in 1998.
He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, where he held offices. He was a 60-year member of the YMCA. He was also a member of the Brotherhood of Theatrical Projectionists for 45 years.
He leaves his wife, the former Yvonne Carmel, whom he married Nov. 8, 1947; four sons, Mark A. Vincent of Pittsfield, Bruce E. Vincent of Charleston, S.C., Gary M. Vincent of Fayetteville, N.C., and Bryan A. Vincent of Lubock, Texas, and four grandchildren.
A memorial mass will be held Monday, July 1, at noon at St. Mark's Church, concelebrated by the Rev. Henry R. Dorsch and the Rev. Daniel B. Brunton. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME, Pittsfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Vincent may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201.
