Craig M. Smith

Craig M. Smith, 52, of 602 Tussey Drive, Chambersburg, Pa., formerly of Pittsfield, died June 16 at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 1, 1949, in Chelsea, son of the late James E. and Rita M. Roy Smith, he graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1967 and from the University of New Hampshire in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in business administration.

Mr. Smith served in Vietnam during the Vietnam War as a medical corpsman with the Navy. From 1977 to 1985, he served in the Navy Reserves.

He was employed as a supply systems analyst by the federal government for 30 years.

Mr. Smith was a life member of Charles Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW in Chambersburg and Disabled American Veterans, Pennsylvania Chapter 16. He enjoyed bowling and golfing. While in Pittsfield, he was a member of the Boys' Club's Cavaliers Drum Corps.

He leaves his wife, the former Catherine R. Pike, whom he married Dec. 27, 1978; two daughters, Rebecca M. Smith and Robyn K. Smith, both of Chambersburg; five brothers, James E. Smith of Lisbon, Conn., Kevin R. Smith of Zavalla, Texas, Brian E. Smith of Adams, David P. Smith of Houston and Charles B. Smith of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bruce T. Smith, who died in 2001.

A private service will be held at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by THOMAS L. GEISEL FUNERAL HOME INC., Chambersburg, Pa.
