Canio Carbone

Canio Carbone, 66, of 42 Fairfield Ave., Westfield, formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday at Noble Hospital in Westfield.
Born in Cairano, Italy, on April 6,1936, son of Margherita Metallo Carbone and the late Felice Carbone, he moved to Pittsfield in 1954 and to Westfield in 1976.
Mr. Carbone was employed by Westfield Gas and Electric Co. for 23 years, retiring as a gas superintendent in 1998. While in Pittsfield, he worked for Berkshire Gas Co.
He was a communicant of St. Peter's Church in Westfield and enjoyed playing golf and cooking.
His wife, the former Barbara A. Gallagher, died April 2, 1996.
Besides his mother, of the Bronx, N.Y., he leaves a son, Phillip G. Carbone of Westfield; a daughter, Margaret M. Porter of Westfield; three sisters, Angelina Arace of Torino, Italy, Josephine Frieri of Yonkers, N.Y., and Antoinette Santoro of the Bronx, and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Domonic and Giglio Carbone.
The funeral will be Thursday at 9 from FIRTION-ADAMS FUNERAL HOME, 76 Broad St., Westfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Peter's Church in Westfield at 10, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Westfield. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Wednesday, from 5 to 8. Donations may be made to St. Peter's Church, 22 State St., Westfield, MA 01085.
