Muriel E. Dapper

Muriel E. Dapper, 84, of 8 Chatham St. died yesterday at home.

Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 29, 1917, daughter of James and Irma Jolls Hendra, she attended Pittsfield schools.

Mrs. Dapper was a lifelong resident and homemaker in Pittsfield. She was a member of the Senior Citizens and attended Pilgrim Memorial Church.

She was the widow of the late John J. Dapper, whom she married June 8, 1940. Mr. Dapper died in 1987.

She leaves a son, Keith J. Dapper of Dalton; two daughters, Cindy L. Hillard of Pittsfield and JoAnne L. Barcomb of Adams; three sisters, Carol Tower and Olive Wechter, both of Pittsfield, and Clara Lou Shallies of Mentor, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, John P. Dapper, in January, and a granddaughter, Susan McCormick in 1996. Predeceasing Mrs. Dapper were a son, John P. Dapper on Jan. 31, 2002, and a granddaughter, Susan McCormick, Aug. 21, 1996.

Funeral services will be held Friday morning at 10 a.m. in WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Charles Young, chaplain for Hospice, officiating. Burial will be in the West Stockbridge Cemetery. Calling hours will be today (Thursday) from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Hospice of the Berkshires Inc. in care of the funeral home.
