Leslie Robertson Stannard, 65, of Hyde Park, N.Y., formerly of Pittsfield, died Tuesday at Vassar Bros. Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Born in Pittsfield on March 29, 1937, son of Katherine Robertson Stannard Albert and the late Edwin Stannard, he graduated from Pittsfield High School. He was a resident of Hyde Park since 1961.
Mr. Stannard served as a boilerman in the Navy from 1957 to 1961. He worked for ARA Services and the Marriott Corp., retiring in 2000.
Mr. Stannard was a member of Warren Lodge 32 F&AM in Schultzville, N.Y., and the Dairymen's Union, Local 338, Yonkers, N.Y. He enjoyed camping, model trains and mini tanks. A fan of John Wayne, he enjoyed collecting John Wayne memorabilia. He attended St. Peter's Church in Hyde Park.
He and his wife, the former Louisa Vincent, were married Oct. 14, 1967, in St. Peter's Church in Poughkeepsie.
Besides his mother of Cobleskill, N.Y., and his wife, he leaves three daughters, Sally A. Pardee of Hyde Park, Diane M. O'Keefe of Cheshire, Conn., and Lisa A. Stannard at home; two sons, Lawrence L. Stannard of Sciota, N.Y., and George A. Beatty Jr. of Poughkeepsie; four sisters, Blanche Thompson of Crofton, Md., Marjory Jarrett of Kingmont, W.Va., Helen Burton of Hopedale and Kathy Ray of Richmanville, N.Y.; four brothers, Bruce Stannard of East Hartford, Conn., Edwin Stannard of Boston, Julius Van Echaute of Pine Plains, N.Y., and Robert Van Echaute of Oneonta, N.Y., and four grandchildren.
