Kent E. Heacox

Kent E. Heacox, 81, of Colville, Wash., a former resident of Pittsfield, died Sunday in Colville. He moved to Colville in 1999.
Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on March 4, 1921, son of Charles Edwin and Idella Paine Heacox, he was a 1939 graduate of Nott Terrace High School. He also graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering after serving during World War II.
He entered the Army in 1944 and served overseas.
He was employed by GE for 40 years. He worked in Schenectady, Johnson City, N.J., Cincinnati, and Syracuse. N.Y. He retired in Pittsfield from the ordnance engineering division in 1985. During his retirement he traveled across the U.S., then to Germany, Egypt and Italy.
Mr. Heacox enjoyed the cultural arts, including watching plays, musicals, ballets and the symphony. He has ushered at Tanglewood, where the Boston Symphony would play.
His wife, the former Marion McJilton, whom he married in 1943, is deceased.
He leaves two daughters, Janet Bruer of Colville and Carol Heacox of Rochester, N.Y.; and two grandsons. He was predeceased by another daughter, Diane Heacox.
