Francis P. McGee

Francis Patrick McGee, 88, of 169 Valentine Road died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center. He had been a resident of Hillcrest Commons since 1995.
Born in Philadelphia on Dec. 26, 1913, son of Leo W. and Julia O'Connell McGee, he attended schools there. He had resided in Pittsfield from 1943 to 1975 and in Jacksonville Beach, Fla., from 1975 to 1995, when he returned to Pittsfield.
Mr. McGee was employed as a galvanizer at GE for 29 years, retiring in September 1972.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and of Moose Lodge in Florida. While in Florida, he enjoyed collecting seashells, polishing them, and making necklaces, which he gave away to cheer up people.
He leaves his wife, the former Rosella Wall; a son, James F. McGee of Jacksonville, Fla.; two daughters, Carole M. Braund of Virginia and Phyllis A. Middlebrook of Pittsfield; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Joan M. Myers, died March 12, 2002.
The funeral will be Thursday, June 20, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Francis' Church celebrated by the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Society or to the charity of one's choice in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
