Richard L. Ginthwain, 60

June 10, 2002

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Richard L. Ginthwain, 60, of 15 Chickering St. died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 16, 1942, son of Kristantos and Elizabeth Eurbin Ginthwain, he was a 1959 graduate of Pittsfield High School. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Turkey.

Mr. Ginthwain was employed as a welder at GE for 10 years. He also had been employed as a chef at the GE Athletic Association and was a self-employed carpenter and painter for many years. He retired in 1997.

He was a past member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed sports and helped coordinate various softball teams and tournaments in the area. He also enjoyed pitching and playing for many years. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox for many years. He also enjoyed watching his daughters' sports events and spending time with his grandchildren.

He leaves his wife, the former Lucy M. Rahilly, whom he married Aug. 17, 1968; three daughters, Cindy M. Ginthwain of Wolfeboro Falls, N.H., Paula J. Ginthwain of Dalton and Karen E. Ginthwain of Pittsfield; three brothers, Kris Ginthwain of Conover, N.C., Robert Ginthwain of Dalton and Joseph Ginthwain Sr. of Pittsfield; a sister, Theresa Louison of North Adams, and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, Francis Ginthwain, and a nephew, Robert David Ginthwain.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Ginthwain will be held Thursday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at Dery Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael A. Shershanovich, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, officiating.

Calling hours will be held from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Ginthwain may be made to Boys' and Girls' Club in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield 01201.
