Robert B. Hover

Robert B. Hover, 76, of 8 Lucille St. died Tuesday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 31, 1925, son of Burton A. and Beatrice E. Slighter Hover, he attended local schools.
He was a member of the National Guard, Company M, 104th Battalion, 26th Division in Adams. Mr. Hover was employed by the GE Plastics Division, where he was a compound maker in manufacturing for 44 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of Pilgrim Memorial Church and the local Crescent/Pittsfield Lodge of Masons, where he served as marshal for 21 years. He also was a member of the Scottish Rites Bodies and was a 32nd Degree Mason.
An avid bowler, he bowled in many city leagues, most recently with the Wine AC League. He served on the board of directors at the Friends of Wild Acres, and enjoyed fishing and oil paintings.
He leaves his wife of 51 years, the former Doris Joyner, whom he married Nov. 10, 1950; two daughters, Roberta Hover and Theresa Johnson, both of Pittsfield; seven grandchildren, and six stepgrandchildren. Mr. Hover was predeceased by two brothers, Edward F. Hover and Harold "Pudge" Hover.
Funeral services will be held Friday at noon in WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Cory Loder, pastor of the Pilgrim Memorial Church, officiating. Following cremation, burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Lee. Calling hours will be at the funeral home today, Thursday, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Friends of Wild Acres or Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home. The Crescent/Pittsfield Lodge of Masons will conduct a memorial service at 7 p.m. tonight, Thursday, at the funeral home.
