Charlotte Beaton

Charlotte Hazel Ingram Beaton, 84, of Center Sandwich, N.H., and Sun Lakes, Ariz., a native of Dalton, died April 16 at Desert Samaritan Care Center in Mesa, Ariz.
Born in Dalton on Feb. 28, 1918, daughter of Charles H. and Hazel B. Rodgers Ingram, she graduated from Melrose High School in 1935 and from Simmons College in 1939. She received her master's degree in education at the State University of New York at New Paltz.
Mrs. Beaton was employed as a bridal consultant at G. Fox in Hartford, Conn., and taught public school for many years in Pine Plains and Millerton, N.Y.
She was active in the Order of Rainbow for Girls and served as Grand Worthy Adviser of Massachusetts in 1938. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, a PTA officer, church worker, and was a member of the Eastern Star, the Eye Openers, who assist the vision impaired, and Neighbors Who Care. She was a tax counselor for the elderly and was a member of many other groups.
Her husband of 55 years, Curtis M. Beaton, whom she married in 1940, died in 1995.
She leaves two sons, Cameron M. Beaton of Ventura, Calif., and Richard A. Beaton of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a daughter, Janet Goldman of Center Sandwich; a sister, Betty Koerner of Columbus Heights, Minn.; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
