Andrew Scherben, 86, of Buffington Street, Taunton, formerly of Pittsfield, died Sunday in Taunton.
Born in Cornwall, Conn., son of John and Anastasia Sokoleska Scherben, he graduated from Pittsfield High School.
Mr. Scherben was employed by GE in Pittsfield as a manufacturing supervisor in the chemical department. He moved to Taunton in 1950 and continued his career in plastics with Hercules.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Taunton and a member of the the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed playing golf and tending to his vegetable garden.
He and his wife, the former Jeanette A. Forkey, were married June 26, 1948, by the Rev. Leo E. Laviolette in Notre Dame Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Marianne T. Brennan of Taunton and Judith E. Scherben of Rocky Gorge, Md.; a son, Andrew J. Scherben of North Kingstown, R.I.; four grandchildren, and a great-granddaughter.
Funeral will be tomorrow, May 28, at 10 from O'KEEFE-WADE FUNERAL HOME, 70 Washington St., corner of North Pleasant St., Taunton. The Mass will be at 11 at St. Mary's Church. Calling hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o St. Mary's Church, St. Mary's Square, Taunton, MA 02780.
