Richard Tierney

Richard D. Tierney, 65, of 26 Grace Terrace died Monday at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Jan. 24, 1937, son of Peter W. and Judith E. Drennan Tierney, he was a 1954 graduate of St. Joseph's High School. He also graduated from the UMass Stockbridge School of Agriculture with a degree in horticulture.
He was a member of the Army Reserves.
He was first employed by Viale Florist and later became employed by A.H. Rice Co. for many years. He then worked for GE as a financial analyst for five years. After GE, he worked at Williams College for one year and retired in 1988.
A communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Mr. Tierney was a lifetime member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club, the Elks Club and the Irish-American Club.
He was a winter resident of Venice, Fla., for the past several years and was a member of the Pelican Point Country Club in Florida.
His first wife, the former Nancy R. McKeever, whom he married Oct. 6, 1962, died Dec. 3, 1988.
He leaves two sons, Dr. William M. Tierney of Edmond, Okla., and John F. Tierney of Woodbury, N.J.; a daughter, Eileen M. Tierney of Hatfield; four brothers, Robert A. Tierney, Peter J. Tierney and Shaun D. Tierney, all of Pittsfield, and Edward M. Tierney of Monterey, Tenn., and five grandchildren. He also leaves his former wife, Margo Shandoff.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 24, at 10:15 from DWYER FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, May 23, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. If friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Peter Cimini Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Dwyer Funeral Home.
